Hello all - I am new to the Little Elm area and will be fishing Lewisville Lake via the Little Elm public access. I've never fished the lake, and I'm wondering what time of year is best. Also, are there areas I need to avoid once I put my boat in the water at the Little Elm access?
i appreciate all your help, looking forward to exploring the lake!

I live across from the boat ramp, what are you fishing for? and yes there are a few hazards in the immediate area. if you are heading for the main lake (south) stay to the left (east) but be aware of where the 2 underwater points are by the bank. do not move from the left side until you hit open lake. then you should be good. If you are going north there is a lot of trees under the water you will need to make several trips to find a way to run it. Let me know if you need more help and what type of fishing you are doing.

Thank you! I've never fished for or caught Stripers, so I am excited to give that a try. Otherwise, I'll be fishing for Bass and Crappies. As I head out from that landing, I'll be heading to the left (so I think that's toward the main lake) and I'll stay left side as I go under the bridge. Is the lake good fishing all year? or only spring and fall? Thanks again!

There are hybrids in Lewisville but no stripers. Be aware that small hybrids look like sand (white) bass and the limits are very different.

Bridges and marina docks hold crappie until you learn where some brush piles are located. There is another section on here for whites and stripers with good info on Lewisville. I will be out there today for a little while in the old lake bass fishing.

Appreciate the info, good luck! That bridge is a good confidence builder for catching crappie about mid April. The old boat cut has white bass in great numbers starting about April 10th and they have the feed bag on.

Thank you! I've never fished for or caught Stripers, so I am excited to give that a try. For what it's worth, your best shot at catching hybrids (stripers) will be to use live shad. Do you know how to use a cast net? If not, live sunfish also work very well as bait for them.

Nope, I have not used a cast net, but I have seen it done. I will probably start with crank baits and plastics until I get used to the lake. Thank you for all the info. "Party Cove", can a person fish that area, or is it loaded with crazy party people every weekend?
