Just prior to the holidays, my manager, friend, and mentor received word that his daughter had a very aggressive cancerous brain tumor. After multiple trips to UT southwestern, and MD Anderson in Houston, she will be having a laser surgery to try and remove the tumor then begin radiation. To make matters worse, her heath insurance company denied her claim to pay for the surgery, so like any of us would do for our children they are paying for it out of pocket. In efforts to raise money for the family, I will Be hosting a benefit tournament on squaw creek 1/11

I will have a lot more information regarding prizes, payouts, etc next week. Details as follows:

Squaw creek Saturday 1/11
70$ entry includes BB (will pay 1 big bass place)
30$ Optional side pot, pays 100% payback in side pot to top 3 places
Register at Gate Beginning at 5:00 am
First cast when they let you out Last Cast: 2:00 pm, in line with fish by 2:30pm

1st place: $1500 guaranteed and working on others. We have donated guide trips, tackle, and other gifts we’ll be giving out but wanted to get it on the schedule.

If you have any questions feel free to call/text me: 817-312-924five

We appreciate all the help and support we can get for the Avery Family.

Though I personally would have no issue with 3 people in a boat, we are going to keep it 2 people per boat just to keep a standard format. If i had more time to organize it I would’ve tried to make an option for a 3rd maybe pay a higher entry fee for the third but just didn’t have the time to work through that.

Update:

Just wanted to give you an update on Johns Daughter as well as the tournament. Sarah had surgery Friday, and they were able to remove 90% of the brain tumor. She is resting and doing well, and will begin a round of chemo in the near future. They are planning to try and stop the rapid growth and make another trip back to get the rest. The amount of support from the fishing community, and people that don’t even know each other is amazing. Keep your prayers coming and get ready for some fun next Saturday.

Tournament update; it’s my understanding that the park is out of reservations. I have A call pending with the park staff to try and work around this today or tomorrow and will try to come up with a resolution. My hope is that they let me get them a list of entrants not registered ahead of time and pay and those boats be allowed in. I will post an update on this as soon as I know Something.

Thanks everyone!

Great news! I spoke with park management, and If you don’t have a reservation currently, they will still let you in to fish the benefit tournament. To speed the process, they’ve asked that I collect Information and email it to them Wednesday evening so they can add everyone to Saturday’s roster.

So if you don’t have a reservation, please email me by Wednesday at 5Pm, and I’ll have you added.

Just an update, as I’m getting a few questions regarding weather.

I am monitoring the weather, and will be watching the hourly forecast to get a better track at the storms coming through. I know It will be cold and some wind Saturday but as long as there doesn’t look like there will be severe storms/lightening during fishing hours then we will still be having the event. Right now it looks like the bulk of the storms will pass through late Friday/early Saturday morning well before registration and take off. Hoping to get a better look at that tomorrow around noon.

I’ve been made aware there is another club event with a later weigh in time Saturday, and as long as all state/park rules are followed and you abide by our weigh in times I have No issue with you fishing our event and returning to your boat with your fish.

Happy Friday!

By the looks of the the hourly forecast, we WILL be having the tournament tomorrow. I know it will be colder and windier than we would like, but the storms look to be passing through tonight and early morning and temps staying well above freezing. It also shows the wind laying more as the day progresses. I’m no weather man, but my concern involved ICE/lightening storms and that threat looks to be eliminated early into the morning in Granbury.

I will Be up at the restrooms around 4:45ish to set up and remain there well through the morning. Hope to as many people as possible, the family is extremely appreciative of all the help.

Thanks,
