NEVER practice anything on the boat ramp. If you can't back a boat trailer you don't deserve to own one.
YES have everything done when you get in line at the ramp. Have someone in your boat. A floater at the ramp is asking for trouble. I'm starting to feel sorry for folks whose boat ramps are always so busy that there's a line and there aren't ever any slow days. I guess I'm blessed to live and fish in places where launching a boat isn't always a hurry. I think I've seen lines at the boat ramp less than 10% of my fishing trips this year - almost always Saturdays near sunrise, with one busy Thursday morning right before a big bass tournament. No lines most weekdays or even weekend afternoons. NEVER is a pretty definitive word. I fish 2 lakes regularly that have 4 ramps and many times I am the only one using one launching and loading.
GOD is good!

Yeah, I probably should have said "If possible don't practice backing a boat on the ramp" You're right, "Never" is a definitive word. Never say Never !

I pull the boat so much I forget how to back without it. And I swing wide on every turn. you sound like the idiots in Dallas that can't make a right turn from ONE lane.

I should have included, "After launching, pull your empty trailer and vehicle up and park them in an appropriate spot."
Funny story - a couple weeks ago, a fellow on Grand Isle left his truck running and his trailer backed up into the water on the ramp. Guess he was in a hurry to get fishing. Fortunately, it was a very slow day at the ramp and the remaining open lane handled all the traffic.

I have seen Game Wardens do that before.

I can cut them slack in the pursuit of poachers, just as regular police can block a bit of traffic in catching the bad guys. But the two times we've seen trucks left on the ramp, it turned out to be simply guys who were eager to get fishing and forgot to park their truck and trailer.

As far as floating my boat when I'm alone....ain't gonna happen. If you're in that big of a hurry then offer to back my truck for me....it will be appreciated. This ^^^
Luke 6:22-23
22 Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you, insult you, and slander your name as evil because of the Son of Man.
23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy. Take note—your reward is great in heaven, for this is the way their ancestors used to treat the prophets.
