I am looking for a remote and as isolated as possible cabin or rental to take the wife for a couple of nights. Waterfront is ideal river or lake. Can be central or west Texas but don't want the typical cabin next to cabin arrangement. Just want some peace and quiet-anyone have a recommendation?

This may not be exactly what you are looking for but its a cool looking place.
I have not stayed there but I did have one of the best restaurant Rib eyes I have ever had.

I have a place in Bend next to the State Park. As isolated as you can get on 587 acres. No river frontage though.

I have another place Nueces River Retreat that's on the Nueces River but it's down near George West.

Both listed on AirBnB

PB flathead 34.5 lbs - I know it's small but it was still the record for Lake Travis when I caught it!
PB Blue 58.5 lbs jugline 43.5 lbs on R&R which was the other Lake Travis record when caught.
