Hi I was wondering if someone might be able to help me out. I recently bought a 17 1/2 bass boat too replace my old center conceal. I sold it a few years ago. It was just to large for me to handle by myself, since I don't have rails anymore to mount rod holders what would be the best mounting options. I have thought about buying the three hole drift master mounts. I am not sure they will fit the contour of the side of the boat since its really not flat. I have personally never seen the mount and have no idea how large they are. Any advise or suggestions would be great.

I have a Lowe aluminum boat that is setup like a bass boat and I have been looking at the drift master rod holders as well and have been considering the bases that mount to the top of the side rails . http://www.driftmaster.com/Rodholders.html

This is what I used on my bass boat when I had it. They worked awesome. Plus no drilling which was very important to me

I rednecked up some rod holders to a pedistal base for my rear seat
Only down fall is it has to be tied off to the cleats to keep it from spinning
But the pole also made a perfect place to anchor off my drift sock

This is what I was thinking of as well. I just was not sure if they will mount on a bass boat do to the sides being kind of rounded. Ebay as for about 19$. I may pick on up and see how it mounts. Thanks

i installed a similar setup. less than $60 since i had the angle aluminum sitting around. my base is a 2 3/8 inch with a notch so it doesn't swivel at all. i have the seat base locked in position. the 4 rods holders were $25 (?) for a set of four on amazon. [Linked Image]

is that just a pice of angel iron. I am not the most creative person when it comes to their stuff. but I like this. I found mounts like this on eBay and I am sure I can get a 2x4 or angle iron from lows. thanks for the tips guys. and if anyone what's a cartfishizng partner. I am willing to trade trips or take out my boat. I was suffered sever back injury in Iraq. so my wife does not let me go out by my self and my sons cant alway go. I am retired and can do during the week I live just out side of ft hood and use to fish Waco all the time.

yes, just simple angle aluminum. mine was 1/8 inch which is really heavy duty. although i don't think it needs to be that thick. if you think the one from lowe's is too flimsy, i would just double two of them up. the rod holder bolts will keep them together. mine is 48 inches wide and i would not go any smaller.
