I know the obvious reason to winterize a boat, but this winter appears to be extremely mild and the extended forecasts show to be consistent with milder weather. I am in North Texas and am a new center console boat owner with an outboard yamaha. Who all has not/will not winterize this winter in N. Texas? What will you do to your boat when the temps go below freezing? I have put RV/Boat anti freeze in the drain lines and bilge and move the motor all the way down. I have a boat and motor cover but the boat stays outside. I run the motor maybe 2-3 times a month during this time of year.

Thats all you need to do is let motor all the way down also put you some sta bill in gas. If have any question about your Yamaha give me a shout.

I have lived and owned outboards of different makes and power for 35 years and all I have ever done is drain the water in the lower unit after running the boat in the winter. Once I drain at the ramp I install the transom saver and store it that way. I use mine a fair amount in winter months. Never had a problem. for 30 of those years I have owned Mercs. No need to put antifreeze in the bilge if you pull the plug.
