I started a lawn business on the side last year and made rather decent money and thought maybe I can save 60% that might give me $8-10K to play with for a new or new to me boat. I primarily fish L Houston, right by my house, not too crowded but I can see myself maybe running to Sam/ Toledo/ Caddo/ Coleto/ etc... but I still want to take it out on the jetties and catch some trout when the surf is green. Al lWeld with a 150? Grizzly/ Crestliner/ Carolina Skiff??

Fire away.

I bought a 20ft bay boat for that specific reason in 2012. I now fish a LOT more offshore than I do for bass...but my bayboat will handle ANY freshwater in Texas, even on a blustery day. That being said, I'm wishing for a 27ft+boat with twin screws to go chase bigger fish now...for the jetties and beyond (even on calm days) bigger is better. Get what you can afford or hold out for what you want/both. There's a TON of great used boats on the market so you don't have to buy new if you don't want to.

A good source there ( photofishin) I know you are a bluewater guy also. PM me your # I may give you a call if you dont mind.

I plan to buy used actually, know I can get a good deal from an old guy that bought it for his last boat and now cant take it out. Thats how I got a bass boat from 1989 that is still running, just an old tired motor on it that I dont want to spend more money on. Sadly this will be me too one day. I was muscling my 14ft jon in and out of the back of my truck yesterday and said " wonder how long you will be able to do this"

I love my Cajun but from a money standpoint, its older boat with comforts from the 90s on it and I would just rather have something simpler honestly. I like that big casting deck in the front and back though
