The original article begs a question, “If lakes and river contribute as much as 25% of the release of carbon-sourced gasses into the atmosphere, how much of this release do the oceans contribute?” Scientists believe that the oceans currently absorb 30-50% of the CO2 produced by the burning of fossil fuel. If they did not soak up any CO2, atmospheric CO2 levels would be much higher than the current level of 355 parts per million by volume (ppmv) - probably around 500-600 ppmv.

The constant drumbeat and never ending playbook of the globalists is to try to scare and cajole people enough so that the people will willingly hand over a large portion of their wealth and cede whatever political power and rights they have to a special elite that will make it, the endless catastrophic environmental issues the Earth faces, mostly really non-issues or ones that any number of sensible adaptations will fix, all better.
However, the goal of the elite is not really to fix things, that’s obvious by the largely idiotic and economy wreaking solutions always being proposed, but the real aim is the permanent transfer of political and economic power from the individual to a governing cabal of all knowing, infinitely capable, beyond reproach types such as Bernie, AOC, Al, et.al. A new and better Supreme Soviet, some kind of global governmental order run by the “enlightened” and funded by all the smucks that got frightened and duped into handing over the keys to the kingdom. very well said, lot's of brainless robots in this country now who would love to have a govt that controls us

But most of that is through diffusion from the atmosphere and photosynthesis from algae and plankton. So why isn’t it also in freshwater?

It's not something I worry about. But I will throw this out. If saltwater absorbs C02, wouldn't rising ocean levels be a good thing?

That is basically how it is already, doesn't matter if it is the socialist left or the fascist right. No politician cares about the people. They care about the people who buy and sell them: Oil, Pharma, Military Industrial Complex, whoever gave them the most money.

I agree. I have some of both in my family. Some of my grand kids are just as savvy as I am, maybe a little more. But a couple of them don't have since to pour pee from a boot with the instructions written on the heel. The problem in America today, those clueless ones is who gets all the attention. Those working and learning don't get much press, ask Mike Rowe. "since to pour pee", I guess you are a genius.

Yeah, I can remember the 50's when the stench from Houston to Texas City was so horrible you could hardly stand it. When the rivers had so much raw sewage the fish shouldn't be eaten. The air around metropolitan areas was green with smog. And you think that would all have been improved were it not for the government and regs? Pretty naive.

God made the earth like it is and HE knows way more than these liberal idiots. They are just trying to get into the pocketbooks of idiots like themselves, and there are plenty out there. California is full of them.

AOC - "The future is, like, the most important issue ever. Humanity won't survive if we don't, like, end humanity as we know it asap. You know?!!!" AOC - "Nature is, like, totally important, you know?!!! If we don't use the modern technology and tools we have to help nature, then nature won't be here in 10 years!" AOC - "Like, fishing rods are the assault rifles of the waterworld. You know?!!!" AOC - "A brighter tomorrow starts with a less whiter today...right?!!!" AOC - "Minnows are, like, just aquatic slaves who are oppressed and sacrificed for the advancement of white privilege. And that's not okay, you know?!!!

Young people nowadays don't have anything to be afraid of other than terrorist, and the majority leaves it to the 1% anyway who actually do the fighting. When I was growing up in the 50's we were aware that our parents, grand parents and family members participated and many died in WW1, WW2, Korea, and living under the fear of Vietnam which for myself and many was reality. In 1960 everyone was told the world was coming to an end and it didn't, (duh!) and then we lived with the Cuban Missile crisis which was reality on steroids, and the cold war gave us plenty to chew or fingernails over. Today the youth are being threatened by those who are wanting to cash in on a new and at times manufactured crisis around every turn. Our youth live with all kinds of threats being fed them almost daily by the liberals who see the need to keep things stirred up in order to advance their twisted agenda. If people, especially our youth would just study and learn history, they would find out they don't have it that bad! I'm all for saving the planet and protecting the environment, but we need to step back, take a deep breath, and leave the petty PC stuff alone, and let some common sense and thought into their decision making, without letting someone else make their decisions for them. I believe that you guys are right, about SOME of the youth today.... But you also need to get out more. There are plenty of people in the "millennial" group that have common sense and will be good leaders some day. Let's face it, there were plenty of turds in y'alls time as well. Let's think about things that happened in America during the Vietnam era for example.... Anti-War protests, Soldiers being "welcomed" home amid protests and spit on, Hippies, etc. Not bashing, just pointing out every generation has it's clueless group of people. Your hippie generation has been running and destroying this country for the last 5 decades....so yeah thanks for that
