My motor started making a bad clacking sound while going across the lake today. Slowed down to an idle and it was shaking and banging really loud. Sounded like two squirrels with hammers trying to kill each other in there.

I'm going to need a good mechanic, I'm guessing for a rebuild. I live in Ennis, so anyone close to here would be a plus. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Its a '99 Yamaha 115 2 stroke. I think the model is C115TLRX.
About how much would a rebuild cost?

If it is a rebuild then I would recommend East Texas Outboard Rebuild in Tool. They did mine and I have been very pleased.

Service Marine or Sartin Marine. Both have excellent Techs.

What he said. Used both when I had a Yamaha.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to start looking at my options. Any other recommendations are still welcome.

Thanks

That sounds great. Looks like I'm gonna be boatless for a while.

I did a compression test just now. These results mean its blown and needs a rebuild, right? Would there be any chance of repairing it without doing a full rebuild?
