Gonna install some deck lighting on my rig to be ready for summer night fishing. I am conflicted between the blue and white lights. The blue look cooler but I have concerns they won’t provide the same amount of lighting for rigging up baits and such. The white may be worse on night vision. Anyone out there have an informed opinion on this?

I've had blue for several years. I actually had to cover about half the strips with electrical tape because they are too bright. I did put white in the lockers and glad I did. Two things I would have done different: I would have put a dimmer switch on the deck lights and had a separate switch for the storage lights.

I have the blue on my deck and green in my live wells and cooler, and white in my boxes. I have my front deck lites on one switch and back deck on another. All deck lights at one time was to much light. The blue looks cool at night and no night blindness.

The dimmer is a must, I went without it at first, lesson learned.

White will attract bugs like a son of a gun! I have had red on my boat for almost 7 years, been great.

I have a dimmer on mine as well. Bluewater dimmers are the way to go.

What lights did you guys use/where did you get them? I’ve been thinking of putting red strips on my center console- I’ve read that red doesn’t attract bugs as bad. Theoretically, it should have less effect on night vision as well.

Changing mine up this year since I'm getting more dead diodes after 5yrs. I presently have red strips under the rub rail on the inside, and I like them, but also want white light at times so I can see colors and better detail. I'll be changing mine and running sections of each strip so I can have both colors independently of one another. Might even go RBG on the color strips so I can make what I want.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

All finished up. Went with the RGB rock lights and installed a light bar and a spreader facing to the rear. Put them all on separate switches and the deck lights dim with an app on the phone. Can’t wait to beat the heat this summer and get some night fishing in [Linked Image]
