my fuel pump went out today, I going to replace it with a mr. gasket 35gph electric fuel pump. My question is do you bypass the old vro unit and tie into the fule line that goes to the carb or do you just unplug the wires to vro unit and just let the new pump push gas through it. This is the 2nd time this has gone out and I am not going to spend more on it to rebuild or replace again.

I have a Johnson 1996 175 hp. I know I will be doing the 50 to 1 oil mix .

Call Todd at Adams marine. (1 man operation) He can tell you what to do. He’s a Johnson guy he replaced my VRO pump on my 1996 Johnson fast trac 115. He tuned it up and it run like a New Motor for over a year now. 817-907-8175

When I had mine converted, it's a dual fuel pump system. If you search it online there are pages that talk about it. It comes with the brackets that make it work. I had mine done by a awesome Johnson/ Evinrude guy in Lufkin. Motor runs great and I would not go back. Pre mix 50 to 1 XD 50. Mine is a Fast Strike 150 1996.

I had to leave the vro unit in because of the way it routs the fuel. I will be on the water tomorrow to try it out. Just maybe I might be lucky to catch a bass. I saved over $400 buck on the fix thanks santa.

You can rebuild the fuel side of a VRO pump. Disconnect the wiring, plug the oil lines, premix (make sure you get it mixed and mixed fuel to carbs), and go.
