Installed my Ultrex on our Bass Tracker. Love it.

Currently have no electronics on boat. I'm looking for options, get really confused as to which will work with the US2 that is on ultrex. It is not a Linked ultrex.

What is the best unit I can use that will work with US2?

The best unit would be not using the built in ducer. The ones that come with helix units are better than the built in one. You would want to mount that on the bottom of the tm.

OK, let me rephrase then. I don't necessarily mean "Best". as I can't afford.

Does CHIRP work with the built in transducer? Or does the built in transducer just not help me?

Is there a used model I should look for in trade forum?

I have my Lowrance HDS unit running on the us2 and I can watch a crappie eat a 1/16oz jig on 2d sonar. That's good enough for me.

It’s not very good. If you buy a helix 7 di or so that ducer will be better.

The US2 is a 83/200 kHz transducer. Both Lowrance and Humminbird uses those transducers single frequency or Chirped. Same with the standard 2D 83/200 kHz transducers for those models.
The unit does the chirping, not the transducer.

Whether or not that transducer is "better" or not depends on the exact unit that can/will be connected to it. In a lot of cases in recent history, the transducer that comes with the unit is better and may use a different frequency which would not be compatible with the 83/200 kHz piezo.

He said “the US2 works fine, but; it won’t give the quality of returns like a Helix 7 DI transducer will”.

Any reason not to get the Lowrance that's available in the trade forum? Based on what we've stated above.

I just bought factory refurbished Lowrance carbon units from this guy Steve https://bassfishin250electronics.com

My units came in original packaging with every as if they were brand new but at a fraction of price. If you’re looking at Lowrance units, I’d check him out

A Lowrance HDS 8 Gen 1 or 2 would be great. big screen and works well with that US2 ducer. check Russell marine Products preowned section.
