I plan on buying a new "spot lock" trolling motor" with out" built in transducer . Minnkota is what I am going to buy. I have a Helix 7 G2 on the front of my boat at present. Dont want to upgrade that graph at this time. The transducer is mounted to the foot of the present trolling motor. I plan on using this G2 on the NEW trolling motor. Once again--The New trolling motor will not have transducer built in.
Are there any problems with doing this?
One problem that I see is the transducer cable will have to be wire tied to the shaft of NEW trolling motor -- this could become twisted or cut when motor turns. Dont Know if the big 'loop' will work on the NEW trolling motor
Are there any solutions that you boat riggers might help me with this?

Not that I am trying to do this on the cheap side ---Just trying to do this a little at a time!
Maybe some one has seen or done this before OR know someone that can do this for me..

Which Minn Kota trolling motor are you gonna get? About the only Minn Kota trolling motor that doesn't have a built in transducer would be the riptide models

See there I learned something...… I want to get the ultrex but now I got to search again read lots last night and Minnkota offers a universal transducer that I could use with my Helix G2 thanks for then input 44 diesel

It depends on which Helix 7 G2 model you get whether you would use the US2 transducer.
