Unless there is another hotter pepper, the Carolina Reaper is supposed to be the hottest on Earth. What in the world would people use/cook with this type of pepper. Rumor has it , it could kill by taking your breath away. flame

Dragon’s breath is another that’s right there with the Carolina reaper. Supposedly, you can’t handle these peppers safely without gloves.

I’m not sure what the point is to these maddeningly hot peppers, pepper spray? Serranos, Fresno’s are plenty hot for me. Maybe habanero for some things, beyond those seems insanely hot.

The hottest I grow is Scotch Bonnets. They are right there with Habaneros for heat. But their flavor is amazing.

WOW....so many types of peppers and their origins. I make my own BBQ sauces and the pepper I use is the Smokey Dried Ancho. I would like to try others.What do you recommend? BTW: The wife doesn't care for High Heat! I like a mild bite.

Shishito is a good one. It's low heat with good flavor. It's becoming more popular and easier to find in box stores now. But you can always start them from seed.

I grew an heirloom Italian frying pepper called “Jimmy Nardello”. No heat really, but wonderful sweet flavor. I second the shishito recommendation. Can’t beat those tossed in a bit of olive oil, flakey salt, and blistered on the grilled. Most are very mild, once in a while one gets a little extra heat.

I grew Fresno peppers and they did great. Around a jalapeño in heat, but a different flavor and heat. The ones I grew started off with a little sweet up front and the heat built later. The first of the season were more sweet than heat. Those peppers are better when bright red. Shishitos, green or green with a little yellow or orange mixed in. Jimmy Nardellos, deep red. The Aji fantasy, mad hatter types are really good with just a little heat.

We make a LOT of jelly out of the Reapers as well as dehydrate for powder seasonin . Reaper jelly ,cream cheese & tall house style crackers are a hit at any gathering . [Linked Image]

My fav last few years has been "Garden Salsa". Very prolific and interesting profile with sweetness slowly growing to medium to high heat depending on the time of summer

How is the jelly made ?

Like regular jelly we just add grated carrots and the peppers while cooking down.
