I haven’t seen that before. I catch some with red sores and their tail fins red but never that bad. Looks like a infection maybe??

I’m gonna agree with this or say possibly from a gar. There are many 150+ pound gar in Rayburn that can do some major damage.

I caught one with a similar would on top of it's head. I assumed in was a wound from where a bird tried to grab it and it got infected.

It's a wound that now has a bacterial infection. Pretty common and why I generally try to not throw a bass on the carpet of my boat if i can prevent. All fish have a slime coat that protect then from parasites and infections. When that coat is broken or wounded, infections like this can happen pretty easily.

i know infected wounds are pretty common during the post spawn when the bass are weakened from spawn and guarding fry, but never seen this at this time of year.
