I'm curious to see what fishing rod people take to Calaveras to bank fish with? I'm fairly new to fishing but want a rod capable of casting to the deep parts of the lake. I plan to order a Shimano Saragosa to pair with this rod. I'd appreciate any feed back. Thank you.

It has been a decade since I fished/worked at that lake, but we used the same gear as I would for Surf fishing. I would still wade out and cast, but it would definitely get you in to the deeper channels.
