Christmas break is quickly approaching and my son and I are going to give Texoma a try.
Definitely carefully pick our day to make sure wind doesn't blow us around.

Does anyone from the kayak section fish Texoma that might be able to point us in the right direction just to get started?

Flukes and swimbaits on a 1 ounce jig head will probably be first lure choice. Do have umbrella rig and will keep it handy.

Looking for suggestions. Thanks everyone!

Exact baits you are using would be my choice. I would launch by the dam on Texas side and fish the points to Eisenhower Park then paddle out towards the dam and follow the birds if they are working. If that doesn't work, tie on a square bill crawfish pattern bait and throw it along the rip rap and get you some smallies.

This time of the year IMHO either head NORTH or WEST. Take your pick.

If you want to target big stripers(30" plus), start throwing a horsehead bucktail with 6" curly tail. Look for points or humps close to the main river channel.

Don't be afraid to look SHALLOW. Start at the mouth of creeks and venture deep into the creeks. Not sure what electronics you are equip with but with side imaging I can make a pass and decide to fish or move on.

As for chasing birds, I will leave that to powerboats unless they are within 100 yards of me. But do watch out for powerboats as most are equip with binoculars that can spot birds from far away and keep your head on a swivel! Good luck!

Anyone catching any stripers? I need to give the crappie a break and catch some stripers.
