I live within 4 miles of work. It takes me maybe 5 minutes of drive time. I think running a gas engine that little over and over isn't good for it. But what do I know..lol

My question about the electric trucks is, how much of that range will be eaten up when towing or loaded down? How about when going off road through mud?

Other than tires crunching gravel they would be good deer hunting vehicles. In east Tx you would not have the gravel noise. I think the hydrogen cell might be a better alternative but it sure has been slow to develop.

Everyone keeps talking about them as a city commute vehicle, but even where we live, a 300 mile range is plenty. It's about 60 miles round-trip to Walmart and Home Depot and about 90 miles round-trip to Sam's. As a road trip vehicle, I think we are 3 years from that happening. We've gone from 200 mile ranges to 500 mile ranges in just a few years. 1000-1200 isn't that far off. We'll soon see how they do towing boats as a number of electric trucks will be hitting the market in the next few years.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Some are already doing that. They will scare the you know what out of you coming up behind you in a parking lot or garage.

I would love to have one!!! As to someone mentioning cost, heck the sedans are priced pretty much with other similar sedans. And the new truck is actually cheap when compared to other trucks (and doesn't it go from 0-60 in a hair over 2 or 3 seconds? Lets see an F-250 do that!). I totally think this is the way of the future...again as mentioned, electric is a pretty simple build and low maintenance. You average gas car has what like 500,000 moving parts! And of course one small sensor or a simple belt goes out and the whole thing won't run. And yes, electricity is currently mostly derived from fossil fuels. But if fossil fuels were depleted (which will eventually happen) do you think that would be the end to our electrical usage? Heck no!! Gas cars would be worthless, but there are always other ways to generate electricity.

And Elon got me with the below idea. He must have had me in mind! I converted my last three vehicles into weekend campers. I even installed a window AC unit in my camper truck. But with an electric vehicle you don't even need to mess with an AC unit or generator. You could just run the AC of the vehicle. Especially if the camp site has electric hookups!! I hope his next big release will be an electric van!!

Damit, I can't get the pic to post here. But just click on the link...

I did not replace any of the above on my toyota

call it what you will...he is not definitely not anywhere near the top of the list for QB's that I would choose needing a FG or touchdown drive late in the game.

Not a hater, just not an early adopter. Much like computers, phones, and televisions, the technology and price is changing by the day. I will keep interested and keep abreast of the advancements, but I am not ready to pull the pin on owning one. I watched a tv show on an attempted trip across country in a Tesla. The planning, delays, and added time was interesting and not something I am ready for. I hope early adopters keep buying them so they keep making improvements on the vehicles.

The great awakening comes when it is time to replace those batteries.
