Hey guys, new here and to the area. Stationed in San Antonio for the next 7 months for the Navy and brought all my surf gear from home in ocean city Maryland. Gonna be free for the thanksgiving break and wanna get some beach time in. Have done a fair amount of research on surf fishing the Port A area and SPI but don’t have any experience in the gulf. Any inside on locations, rigs, bait will be awesome. Wanna hit the beach for reds and pomp but also would love to cast jetties for specs (don’t see many in Maryland anymore).

Beach fishing is beach fishing. Still a few bull reds around.. big drop wright or spider weight with enough weight to hold in the current where you are at. Big cut mullet steak or live or dead crab or big cut menhaden pogey. Circle hook. you'll catch a variety of things and have a shot at a bull red as well.

Thanks for the reply’s. I caught a bunch whiting. No reds. Wind and grass were relentless. I’ll be back this week if coming to give it another go.
