Due to the rule of having to keep the first 25 on Pines and Fork, I am moving to waters where I can release the 2+ lber's. Saturday was a spectacular day to be on the water! I released 6 2+lb fish before being reminded we have to keep the first 25. Pines is producing some really big fish this year and with 20-30 boats lined up hitting the same area and catching all big fish, it is time to move to waters where I can enjoy releasing the big uns. I did manage 23 fish after getting to release a few big fish, but most were big with only 6 in the 10" range. While LiveScope will greatly improve the big fish catch ratio for most, there are so many big fish in the area I have been fishing, that it isn't necessary. I am still old school locating and catching with side scan and 2d.
All fish were caught using a new prototype color from Thermocline Lures called PHANTOM in a 2.5" tadpole with a pink 1/4 oz head from Mad Crappie Jigs. Fish were caught in 30-36 FOW suspended at 20-25 ft. Single Pole Single jig was the method, dead sticking. The bite is not light, they will literally hammer a jig right now! Have fun, be careful and God Bless!

Hats off to you. I do much the same except for tournaments. I begin to do this several + years ago after a certain crappie angler (very experienced) was catching almost limits of 2lbers on Lavon during this season. IMO, Lavon suffered years of regularly catching prized crappie. Of course, this wasn't due to this one person, but it got me to thinking how many did keep bigguns for bragging rights, thus changing my approach. The largest I kept this summer was 1.8lbs and I wonder now, why I did since I had a nice creel.

By no means do I disrespect those that do. If it's legal, it's legal. It is just my own way of conservation, albeit, small.

I think the mandatory keeping of the first 25 is good for the lake.
LOP and Fork both get hammered all winter and remove thousands of fish.
They are now 2 of the best lakes in the state to catch big fish.
Bob Sandlin does not see a fraction of the pressure and while it is on the same water shed as LOP the fish are much smaller. You can catch them fast and furious but you catch a lot of small thin fish with big heads.
I think it is like removing deer from a place so the ones left have more food.
Just my thoughts on it.
