Wet, cold and heavy fog. So much for shooting hogs or deer as planned. We began getting stir crazy around 3 and decided to go jump ducks on the ponds at my brothers ranch near Giddings. Fortunately for me we had more hunters than shotguns and I gave mine up to one of my boys. There is a pond near his house so I told him I was going to go try it. He said there wasn’t anything in it and if I waited for them to clear the quarry pond I could go fish there. So I went to the nearby pond to kill some time while waiting for them to jump the rock pond.

After 20 minutes I had the first stringer – including 7lbs, 5lbs and 3 between 3 – 3 ½

Next 30 minutes added stringer 2 – 2 ½ plus 2 2 lbers and a dinky 1lb+

Next 15 minutes things got interesting - 3 2-3 lbers plus I broke off on two different bass

Next 30 minutes were the final wrap up before we had to get the turkey going – 5 ½, 5, several 2-3 and a couple 1 lbers. Also threw back 4 small ones and broke off on two more.

First three stringers were all released in the new lake he built while the others were released back into the pond once he realized there were fish in there.

Everything was caught on a black/blue chatterbox with a black/blue Havoc 4" grub.

Sorry about my son and his "gesture" in the background.

It's hard to see but the jig is attached to the rod in the last photo. Good point though. I will make sure I add the photos next time.
