Putting together a late february trip to fork. Is Rayburn much further along come the last week of the month? We're keeping it in mind in case theres a bad cold snap.

Just depends on the weather. Warm February and they can be starting the spawn, cold and they will be just moving in to pre spawn.

If you can make it...come! One of the absolute best days for numbers of 4-5 pound bass came on Lake Fork in Mid February and it was a light sleet and a few snow flurries. We whacked pre-spawn fish in Wolf Creek for three or four hours! Between my partner and I we probably caught around 35 fish and 20 over 3 pounds. No bed fishing, just whacking really solid fish for most of the afternoon!

Been coming to fork yearly since 2006. Had our [censored] kicked many times by Canadian weather coming down right then. Figured Rayburn being further south would be a good audible.

Lakes are pretty much on the same cycle.

I'd go to Rayburn long before Fork - and I live at Fork.

Fork for me if coming to fish for big ones. Rayburn will have so much tournament pressure by then plus the pressure is already showing on Rayburn. Lots of fish up to 2.5lbs but quality is definitely taking a hit

Rayburn is usually 5 degrees or more warmer than North/East Texas lakes in late February. Check this site if you want to see historical temps and levels. Both lakes can produce good fish in late February, bad wind and sleet just seems worse on Fork. Even though I've caught bigger fish on Fork in February than on Rayburn, being able to fish all day and not see but a couple of boats on Rayburn, plus catch good fish, far out weighs it.

Supposed to stay the nights of Feb. 12 ad 13th. I say "supposed" because I am not in a tournament and too dang old to have to fish in super, crappy weather. Cold is expected and okay. Terrible weather, no.

Be safe,

that aint nothing, try a BFL at the same day as a BassChamps launching from opposite ends in a sleet storm.
