Do we have any resident experts with experience in LP fireplace repairs?

We have an LP based unit that won't light the pilot without an assist with a lighter, then when lit the flames go out after a short period of time.

We can get it lit, but it won't stay lit.

Please help guide me in the right direction.

Either the thermocouple is not being heated by the pilot flame, or it is bad.

Mine did the same last weekend, the thermocouple wire had come loose from the pilot light housing. Soldered it back on and all is working again.

Can the thermocoupler be purchased anywhere? I thought I saw a few at Ace just don't want to buy anything that could lead to issues.

PS: thanks for the replies

For ease of install I would order it from the manufacturer.

Well I spoke too soon....

We get approximately 10-15 minutes out of it then it shuts itself off. I'm going to hire someone to look at it as I fear the lines are not pumping enough gas into the line or we're not getting the proper ventilation and it's shutting off thanks to an O2 sensor.
