I am running a 150 HP, 2-stroke Suzuki outboard and after running the engine for some time, it would not start after turning it off. It will turn over but won’t start. If I wiggle the shifter, it will start. I am wiggling it very slightly and I don’t think I move it far enough to engage/disengage the neutral switch under the engine cowling. My question is, is there something inside the shifter that would open/close that cause this phenomenon. Thanks for your input

Neutral switch possibly? I had that happen with a 150 Johnson although it was on a binnacle control. I see you have considered that. Luckily I was able to repair the switch because the only way I could buy one on older equipment was to buy another shifter-i.e. binnacle
