Going to get more involved in fishing tubes this year. The waters I fish have shallow (4' and less) weeds and bushes along with lay downs (ocasionally some docks) with max depth of 15'. Will want to fish the tubes (4" range or so in length) in a manner similar to fishing other soft plastic baits that I tx rig and using baitcast equipment. I have watched videos where the tubes were rigged "Stupid Tube" style which looks pretty good.

Also have seen tubes rigged with offset and plain wide gap hooks and a sinker pegged to the front of the tube. A few questions: which way(s) do you find best to rig a tube weedless? What size of wide gap hooks for 4" tubes? I have some Owner heavy wire 3/0 and 5/0 twistlock hooks - will these work for tubes?

Boy do I need some good info!

I use Gamakatsu skip gap hooks and Lindy tube weights. You can find YouTube videos showing how to put the weight inside the tube and thread the hook through it. They work great, rarely get hung up. The Lindy weights come with or without rattles.

Take a senko and bite 3'' off. Shove it inside the 4'' tube and rig it with an owner beast hook.

I have used the stupid tubes and they catch fish, just a pain to rig and have to re-tie
