Had an interesting visit with a savy prop guy yesterday about this. Bottom line, my FX21 with 250 SHO is slow,60 mph at about 5400 RPM WOT. Who would you take it to to get setup correctly?

Take it back to the dealer. Has it always been this slow. Have you changed anything. Wrong prop, Boat should run in 70 s from the dealer.

Your 600 RPM below max WOT. I'd contact Skeeter and have them work with your Dealer to get set up and rpm corrected.

i agree.. come see us out here.. or just give me a call. i can walk you through a few things to check.
first question is: is the prop bone stock, never worked, in great shape? (that's really one question)
second. what kind of jack plate? manual plate. a 12" slidemaster. if mounted in the second hole. you should have 7 dots showing on the side of the jack plate. if hydraulic: you need to measure the actual prop shaft height and set it at 2.75 below and leave it alone, and go test.
those are the first two things to check out.

Interestingly, I have an fx('14) which is new to me and I'm definitely new to boating as well. I've been wondering if the setup is correct on my boat as well. This is what I know, 66-68mph @5400-5500rpm. Slidemaster manual jackplate(not sure setback, assume 12"). I only see 4 dots visible and haven't verified but prop shaft 'looks' like it may be the right height. Don't know what hole it is mounted on. So should I be concerned that it's a little off?
