Made a short daylight trip on Lake Palestine on Sunday. Went to check some deep water hybrid winter spots and first stop was loaded with bait and fish. Had 15 fat hybrids, a couple nice sand bass and a monster crappie in about an hour and a half. Fish were caught 5-12' down in 30+ fow vertical jigging soft plastics.

Thanks guys. The crappie made a better picture than filets. One of the thinnest fish I've caught this fall. Weighed 2.2#. This cold weather should have the bite getting better every day.

Here are the baits I caught them on. 3" shad profile a buddy of mine pours

Nice fish ATM. Gonna take a tiny stinger hook for those! I'm kidding. Remember well getting schooled by you while deadsticking regular sized flukes with the stinger hook.

Hybrids still loaded in same area but also found them in several other areas as well gorging on huge schools of shad in deep water winter spots. Hit a two man limit of hybrids then whacked crappie until the cooler wouldn't hold any more. Palestine is fishing great right now.

That is a nice mess of fish with several bigger ones mixed in.
Good job, hope you have more days like this.

Nice. Hope I can find this kind of success. Will be there starting tomorrow and thru next Wednesday. Going to mainly crappie fish but will look around for the whites/hybrids too. Red/white Crestliner 2200 Bay if you see me out there stop by and say hi.

Another good morning on the hybrids. Same pattern except they were a little more spooky. You could see them fly in and look at bait once or twice on livescope then fly out more often than not.

I fished 11/22 - 8am to 3pm

Drifted big shad from the dam area north with nothing - had several bites but no takers. I was targeting big cats.
Anchored up in 20ft and caught a ton of 8-14inch channel cats. Not exactly what I wanted but it was fun.

Still looking for some hybrids. Planning to fish this weekend - maybe target the big bridge(155) area.

You are in the right area. Lots of hybrids on the south end right now. If you start early they seem to be a little scattered but if you just scan in the river channel you will find small groups of them. Either spot lock on them or get back up wind and make a short drift thru them. In the afternoon have been a little more concentrated just look for gulls even if they are just sitting on the water or loons and drift thru them. Would have baits set 15-18' down. This last weekend they were hitting larger 5" flukes best in the classic white/chartreuse color combo
