Where should I go this weekend? I have heard good things about the nature center but I have also been eyeing that stretch of river for a while now. I am mainly targeting bass and trying to break a LOOOOOOOONG skunk streak.

The stretch between Ray Roberts and Lewisville is often very shallow. You will need to check the flows out of Ray Roberts before heading out... most of the time, it's very shallow.

I have been to the Nature Center at least a dozen times and have seen a gator twice. Never heard of anyone being bothered by them. If you want to be concerned about wildlife, snakes are a slightly bigger concern. Last time I was there, in warmer weather going up toward the Eagle Mountain, I saw dozens of large wasp nests covered with thousands of large wasps in the overhanging branches. Never seen it like that before. I turned around and headed back after a while cause one errant cast or bumping a low hanging branch and I wouldn't have been able to pedal fast enough to escape. Th wasps shouldn't be a problem this time of year though.[Linked Image]

The stretch between Roberts and Lewisville is not very navigable. Too many old log jams that even have grass growing on them.

As said before the run from Ray Bob to the Lew is almost all but impassable. Has been for several years.

The streach from ray rob dam to the first takeout at 428 is passable. Going further south is a no go. The log jam at 380 is never going to go away. I think its so dangerous. Tons of people fish there from land and im sure someone is going to walk out on that and go out in a horrific way. There is also a feeder creek to that river. I cant remember but i think its off 428 going twards 288.

That's good to know I am going to go check that stretch out at some point.
