Rayburn has been sprayed every year for 20+ years, no issues and it controls the salvinia. The key is the contractors spraying. No supervision and they'll just spray wherever. What all areas of the lake have they been spraying for twenty years? Do these areas still have hydrilla? It was my understanding that they only sprayed on the far north end.
I hate photobucket.

A lot of times they just completely overreact. Cypress springs used to be a clear water lake and fantastic fishery, then they added grass carp and completely destroyed it, always overreactions Completely agree! Purtis Creek, Lake Austin, Cedar Creek, Joe Pool, Tyler, Jacksonville, Conroe....... I’m not one to always throw the TPWD under the bus on every practice. They have had a lot of very positive programs beneficial to fishermen. Florida Bass introduction, SAL..... but they undeniably have an extensive history of “all or nothing” practices(mistakes) when it comes to “managing” hydrilla. And often it seems that nothing is learned by these huge mistakes! Guess the first step to intervention is admitting we have a problem(Purtis Creek)!

Part of the problem is that the actual spraying is outsourced. A biologist, or somebody with a strong biology background, would be very conservative with the amount administered.
The over use of grass carp; well, that's all on them.

I know they have sprayed around Deer stand....

I sat listening to a large group of homeowners on Cypress lamenting about the water clarity and how it was "nasty" now to ski/boat in.... I couldn't help but laugh at the ignorance at the table.

No doubt, those idiots got rid of the one thing that filtered that water... and now they cry about it. Sucks that they ruined that lake for so many people, im lucky enough to have grown up fishing that lake when it was crystal clear and full of awesome hydrilla

Yeah "controlled spraying" may work but that's not what happens. They load the tanks and spray everything until the tank is empty. Hell they are even spraying trees on land just to empty their tanks. Some times they empty their tanks at the ramp right before they load up for the day. Now, this is Florida, not saying they are doing that everywhere.
