There's a lot of great theater lost without the end of day weigh-in. Interviews with the top guys while they're loading their boats not sure if they have enough to win, then getting down to the last two guys waiting for the weight to lock in is a thrill to watch and be part of.

There's excitement as time is running down on the MLF format too, but it just feels so empty at the end to me.

I like the idea and wish that's what MLF would do, of biggest 5 and immediately releasing, but as some of these guys that are leaving, the weigh in is a big exciting part of the whole show.

I understand what they are trying to do but in the real world where less than 2%of the buying public cares about pro fishing on tv or otherwise it is a uphill climb .the other time a major retailer wal mart got involved with pro fishing the only reason they were brought in was to get their suppliers to sponsor pros an that allowed more pros to stay on the tour longer using someone elses money if it was a good deal it would still be going on.

I like the format, I believe the BASS did on Fork this year. Biggest 5 weighed and released, and bring in your biggest for weigh in front of the crowd.

If this was BASS's format for every event during the year would they still have the crowds to weigh in for?

I like every fish counts but they have to find a way to interact with fans the way a stringer event does. I can certainly see the issue this causes with both the fans and the contestants.

It's really hard to say. I'd like to think yes because it's more of an event spectacle, hearing what happened through the day for the angler etc... is what I enjoy. However; if my kids go with me and they don't get to see fish at the weigh-in then they will be very unhappy campers.

I voted for the middle one but what I would actually like to see is a hybrid of both. On days qualifying for the cut go ahead and count all the fish caught. Make the cut and on semifinal and final days have a weigh in. The weigh ins are fun to attend but not everyday (at least for me).

I think you could build something more points based that would target both audiences. different points awarded based on weight classes of fish. Kind of like touchdown or field goal type of points. THis would let the heavy hitters go for 5 bigs, and the schoolers try to add up with numbers.

Exactly. Thursday and Friday weigh and release, Saturday and Sunday have a weigh in.

Why four days? Make it one day 5 biggest. They edit it down to 30 minute shows regardless of four days or not.

Enjoy them both for what they are, so I cannot vote. That being said MLF "Post Game" is pretty much anti climactic, and for as much as I watched this year, I did not put much time into a post game 90 minutes after I saw the completion.

That would be OK if they were doing it only for the TV shows. Personally I don't see the point in a formal staged weigh in on the days your trying to make the cut. They are fished on days when crowds are probably at their lowest. On the weekend though the crowds pick up and it can be a party. Businesses setting up tents to show their product, food tents, and any other thing you can think of. Not as many will go through that trouble to show up for one day. They are trying to put on a show which is where I think BPT is getting it wrong. I still like the format though along with the 5 fish limit. Have your dinkfest (as some on here put it) and fish for biggest 5 when it counts and show them off in front of the crowd for two days.
