Richland Chamber it doesn't have the pressure the other lakes have. It may be caught by a crappie fisherman!

Agree with the San Angelo area.. If you can keep CRMWD from sucking the lakes dry. Ivie and Spence are more than capable.

Big Lake has my vote.

It's only a good cast if you catch a fish...

Need a lake with lots of hydrilla that stays that way for years. Seems the lakes either get sprayed and ruined or drought gets them.

It’s just south of Oklahoma. The Oklahoma state record is under 15lbs

I think it’ll come from private waters near the Athens area
Or, if conditions are just right (years and years of good rain) the San Angelo area

Private doesnt count, the high fences world of fishing, meaningless.

Meaningless you say??

Hasn't been done yet!! Apparently there are a few of you that seem to think you can dig a hole, stock it full of bait & bass and in a few years you have a lake full of 18 pound bass. It don't work that way fellas.

If it did we would be hearing about 18 pound bass every year. When was it we last heard of a LEGIT 18 pound bass landed in Texas?

Well, let's see.. That would be about 26 years ago.

There's no fish in our lakes, don't waste the trip.
All kidding aside I wouldn't be surprised if a 15# plus comes out of Twin Buttes this coming spring. I caught a 12 earlier this year and last year there was a 13.4 and two others I know of over 10. That along with not a lot of pressure on the lake. Weekdays may see 3 or 4 boats at most and only a dozen or so on the weekends. Also for what it's worth neither the 13.4 or my 12 were pure Florida strain.

Yes outside of any education and knowledge gained its meaningless. If some kid cant bank fish for it under a bridge it's just a fabricated deal. It's only interesting because any of the millions who fish have a chance. Make it a 1500 dollar a day private deal and it's just another high fence sterioded up deer. I hope the next record comes from some little lake and its caught by a kid with a zebco snoopy reel and a earthworm.

Private water fish and high fence deer are two completely different animals. I know you know this, because this comes up about every six months and you make your proclamations about how private water fishing is the same as shooting a pen grown deer at a feeder behind a 100 acres of high fence. I then remind you that deer can't choose not to eat a bullet and that you can see deer, but you usually can't see bass. I also remind you that most public water has restricted access of some sort. Some lakes are basically impossible to shore fish. Others have launch fees. Some have feeder trout dumped in them. Some have been stocked with sharelunker fry. Etc... etc.. etc...

Lake Dixion of Dottie fame is only 70 or so acres. It has restricted access. Ultra clear water. Guys KNEW Dottie was there. Guys KNEW where she lived. They fished for her every single day for years to get a single chance at catching her. 99.9% of the time they failed. What's the success rate of a guy who decides he wants to shoot a particular high fence deer?

Anyway, I'm not arguing they shouldn't keep the records separate. They probably should. That said, the comparisons of private water to high fence hunting is just not accurate.

Japan Smokes Texas in bass size caught.

Japan is half the size of Texas, and I have seen snowfall many times in Tokoyo in the winter months

Stick a Fork in Texas public lakes

Yes it is, you are controlling variables that aren't controlled in a wild setting, fishing pressure, water chemistry, forage base etc.. it's exactly the same. It's not really about the angler, it's about the fish, for a record to occur in the wild all the stars have to line up.

It'll come from private water if one ever gets caught. Never happen in a public lake in Texas. That ship has sailed.
