As you can see, everyone has something different so you basically set yours up how you want it to be. I started with a Falcon Lizard dragger, then went to a Kistler Helium M/H 7ft 6inch in length and now use the 784 Dobyns Extreme. I use 20 pound fluorocarbon line because it is more sensitive than a copolymer line and when the weight gets wedged against something I will shake it on a tight line and see if it will make it come loose. If that doesn't work then I put pressure on it with the rod then quickly snap the rod tip back toward the bait and many times that will cause it to snap back and come loose. I wasn't able to do that with braid as a main line because it does not stretch. Many people use braid as a main line and I did that also for many years until I did a side by side experiment with braid and fluorocarbon as a main line. The fluorocarbon main line works better for me so that is what I switched to.

Thanks for all the replys.
My setup is...
Falcon Expert Amistad/ Dobyns 735 Sierra
Daiwa Fuego ct
20# fluoro main line, 17# fluoro/15# copolymer leader.
1/2-1 oz, mostly 3/4 oz.
Used braid for a long time but really like the fluoro better, just my 2 cents.

Dobyns DC 804C "Carolina Rig Special". http://dobynsrods.com/rod/804c/
Curado K
20lb. Invisx, and 15-20 lb. Invsx or 15-20 lb. Big Game. Mostly Big Game.
1 ounce led weight.
3/0 Owner RigN hook.

Before that I used the DX 784C and it works great too. The 804 has just a little more length and a stiffer tip. I generally like to throw 3' or longer leaders and this extra length sure helps out. The DC 804C also doubles as a punch rod for me, but I haven't been around much to punch in a while!

7โ€™2โ€ TTO MH Diana Steez Reel
50 Lb Power Pro Braid
BLACK 1 oz Lead Barrel Sinker and BLACK Swivel.
NO BEADS or CLICKERS. I want the fish to be drawn to the BAIT not the WEIGHT.
15-20 Lb Big Game Clear 4โ€™- 6โ€™ Leader Depending on COVER.
4o-5o Gamahatsu Skip Gap Hook depending on bait used
BLACK Swivel and weight to discourage break & whites
Long leader so bait is WEIGHTLESS
The hook is a new style that keeps the bait from slipping down on the hook.

I haven't used C Rig much this year.. but my setup is
7' MH Falcon Original
Abu Garcia Revo SX Reel
Stren Super Braid 30lb main line
Stren Low Viz Green 12lb Mono leader
1/2-1 oz Tungsten weight
I have had luck with Grande Bass Baby Snakes.. Chartruse Pepper

I vary the length of the leader.. usually between 3 and 4'.

C Rig is not my preferred technique, so I'm not real confident in my presentation

Seems many of you are using braid as a main-line.
