So Fork has really dominated many the top 50 spots for largemouth for some time. But Fork doesn’t seem to be kicking out the potential record bass as in the past. So that has me thinking. What lake do you feel has the best potential to break the record?

Anywhere there are FLA strain bass that were stocked has that potential. All they need is plenty of forage and cover.
While I am new to Texas, I moved from Chattanooga. Chickamauga Reservoir (Tennessee River) was my home lake and I fished it regularly since 1975. We never saw anything over 8#. And a 7# fish was fairly rare. But TWRA stocked Fla strain fish in the early 80's and now the lake coughs up double digits with regularity. And 15+ isn't unheard of.
Healed by Grace and trying to stay that way

Boise D Arc will be too close to the metromess and the winters will be too cold to grow a 18lb+ It’s just south of Oklahoma. The Oklahoma state record is under 15lbs
I think it’ll come from private waters near the Athens area Or, if conditions are just right (years and years of good rain) the San Angelo area

Yes, Caddo is almost perfect for growing giants. The record there is 16.17lbs

Private doesnt count, the high fences world of fishing, meaningless.

How about a lake, closed to the public most days, where you purchase a restricted launch fee of $30? Meaningless?

It has been several years since a 16 has been caught anywhere public in Texas. Fork has kicked out several 15's, but not all in SAL season.
I'd say because of the pressure and the fact that all the old standing timber is disappearing the record will not be broken on public waters.
And that leaves....?

Zone 8 weather, likely new body of water/10-15 years after impounded. Or maybe out of the blue some lake nobody would guess. I feel it’s unlikely public record will be broken for a long time(which means it might be broken tomorrow-who knows)! That is for public record.
Private, not sure but the pvt record is likely more achievable. Lots of rumors that record was broken already multiple times. If so would be nice to see pics, evidence! Private lakes can be drained then refilled essentially making a new lake-more opportunity.

I would think a couple of lake could produce a record.. Falcon does not get the pressure, Nachoniche, Big Sam... the only question is if you are in the right place at the right time.. A private lake would make more sense since you have to give your first born away to fish it and it is managed better.. Who ever catches it will be on rich person..
