I use a All Star 7โ€™ ASR series MH, Daiwa Exceler 6.3, 30lb Daiwa j braid main line, 15 lb Seaguar fluorocarbon leader, 2โ€™ to 4โ€™ varies to action. I normally use a 1/2 oz cylinder style sinker with a bead and clicker. As far as hook I like the Owner rigging hook. I fish timber so thatโ€™s why I chose braid. Most of the time I get the weight back when hung up.

Dobyns Champion 784, Lews Super Duty Wide spool reel, 7-1 gear ratio.
20 pound Invizx main line, PLine CXX leader, either in 15 or 12 pound test.
3/4 oz egg sinker with a bead and clacker above the swivel.
Hook will be a 2/0 Owner rigging hook for smaller baits and an Owner 3/0 hook when I am fishing a super fluke.
Main baits are a baby brush hog, bubble fry, ring fry, rattle snake, baby snake and a super fluke.
Leader length....I reel the weight up to the tip of the rod and have the bait hang between the last two guides on the rod. That is how Paul Elias sets his up and he is one of the best with the Carolina rig.

Swivel
Gamakatsu round bend hook sized to what bait I am throwing. From a 1/0 to a 5/0.

Go to Tacklewarehouse and type in Owner rigging hook and you will see what it looks like. I use it in a #1 and 1/0 for my drop shot, 2/0 and 3/0 for my C-rig. They are small and strong.
