Adam and I always have a busy Thanksgiving Week on Richland Chambers and keep our fingers crossed that Mother Nature cooperates. The Customers are normally Families and lots of Kiddos wanting to take advantage of the Fall College and School Break. We were able to get in all our Monday thru Wednesday trips even with the strong South Winds for two days and then a 15 MPH North Wind on Wednesday. (We will see what Friday and Saturday brings with the Rain and Wind Forecasts!!!) On all three days, we had to find alternative locations to where we've been fishing the past couple of weeks. The wind just wouldn't allow a comfortable trip unless you hugged the Shoreline or found a protected area/cove. We did just that and found fish in spots we hadn't yet fished this year, but had in years past. If you're familiar with RC and face some tough South Winds, check out the Black Forrest or the timber to the West of the Wilderness. On North/Northwest Winds you can sometimes hide in the Kingswood Cove. We fished all three and while our Quantities were down a little from the recent trips, our Quality was up. We had several Slot Fish, could not turn at least four fish that I know were Slots and broke off several that may have been Slots. This gets your adrenalin pumping! Dads, Grandads and I had to help the little ones do some hooking and reeling but all went home with plenty of filets!
