This is how it is done.

I pull the boat so much I forget how to back without it. And I swing wide on every turn.

That's exactly how I was taught and to use the mirrors. Especially helpful if you are in a vehicle you can't see out the back window of.

If you want to teach a kid, any man who doesnt know how is a moron, use one of those single axle flat beds. When you can back one of those straight you can back anything.

true, funny story from a few years ago.

I was driving through my residential and came upon a Hispanic family trying to back a single axle small flat bed trailer down a 90 degree "L" shaped driveway. after watching them jack knife for over 10 mins while blocking the road, I politely got out and offered to back it in their garage for them so I could get home. first time, easy. walking back to my truck I hear one of the little girls say to her dad, "Dad, that's a real Mexican!"

Perhaps they didn't notice there were 3 ramps free in the video. Why hurry when you're the only boat launching and there are four ramps?

As far as floating my boat when I'm alone....ain't gonna happen. If you're in that big of a hurry then offer to back my truck for me....it will be appreciated.

If " Floating your boat" means tying a long rope to it and having it float off the trailer , I dont do it because I am afraid it will float into another boat

It means floating it without a rope, a little nudge into the middle out of the way then get a ride to it. They have rub rails for a reason.

I watched a guy tear his trolling motor off his bow last weekend, at squaw, doing that very thing. Lakes too shallow and ramps too steep. Lol. He looked cool, but I’m sure he was kinda scratching his head a short while later....after hitching a ride to his boat. Lol.

Let me know when you are going to Squaw Creek next time, Me or WAWI will give you a tutorial of how to back a boat off a ramp and let it float out.

Go rent a 4x8 U-Haul trailer for the day an go to Walmart parking lot. Practice backing that dude up until it’s time to return it. You’ll be able to back anything down after that.

NEVER practice anything on the boat ramp. If you can't back a boat trailer you don't deserve to own one.

YES have everything done when you get in line at the ramp.
Have someone in your boat. A floater at the ramp is asking for trouble.

I'm starting to feel sorry for folks whose boat ramps are always so busy that there's a line and there aren't ever any slow days.

I guess I'm blessed to live and fish in places where launching a boat isn't always a hurry. I think I've seen lines at the boat ramp less than 10% of my fishing trips this year - almost always Saturdays near sunrise, with one busy Thursday morning right before a big bass tournament. No lines most weekdays or even weekend afternoons.
