Not pimped! Here is the map link at TPWD TROUT STOCKING MAP 2019
[Linked Image]

HERE'S THE DEAL - Take a kid fishing for these trout! It's a perfect chance to do some quality bonding. Rarely is it quality fly fishing.

Mixed messages I am afraid! Here is a better link - https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/management/stocking/trout_stocking.phtml

I know I am a photographer, but I am starting to enjoy the numbers ...
20-thousand in the Guadalupe River below the Dam
and in second place, drumroll please ... PK with 9-thousand. That is A LOT of fish food for those striper!
A grand total 343,650 makes me want to know; how much did the program cost and what does that mean each fish costs?

Never tried to catch these fish but seems like it would be fun. When they release them in a river like PK, do the trout seem to swim up stream or do they go with the current downstream. It might be a couple days after the release and wanted to know which way to go? How far do you think they make it? Thanks in advance...

Stocking these things in Texas makes about as much sense as a mermaid on a bicycle. But they make great supplemental food for the bass. And they’re entertaining for kids I suppose. Still seems like a colossal waste of $$$ to me though.

I don't know, New Mexico Game and Fish have been stocking ponds/ditches with trout during the winter and catfish in the summer for a long time, I have caught some large trout in ditches during the summer months that survived. A deep enough pond or lake with sufficient aeration will work fine, long term. I tested a trout in my 100 gal pond in my back yard (a 13" rainbow I caught), the Water Hyacinth (Native to the Amazon and invasive) provides enough aeration for the trout and a bazillon gambusia, goldfish, snails until it freezes and dies. At Sam Rayburn I noticed the plant lives on thru the winter. I expected the trout to die but the Water Hyacinth is an amazing water filtration and aeration plant. I have caught more trout in my life than most people, they are a fun fish and I would guess that the reason they stock them is because a lot of people love catching them. So I don't think they are a waste of money.
