looking for help .

I need to start replacing treble hooks on some topwater baits and some traps .

Initial thought was Mustad KVD , but a lot of bad reviews .

thanks in advance .

I use a round bend up front and a triple grip in the back. mustad, gamakatsu, owner etc all have good hooks.

+1 and if you want a bunch of Mustad Triple Grips Barlow's Tackle in Richardson sells them in bulk. Close to you.

Mustard Triple grips or Owner Stingers.

I have great luck using EWG short shank hooks on most.

Be careful on the jerk baits though. The weight of the hooks have to be very close to the original hooks, or your jerkbait will not be neutrally buoyant.

On CBs, I use VMC short bend hooks, for both. 3x or 4x hooks. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

. This, stay away from triple grips if your fishing for big fish.

I'll agree to this for the very best hook you can get. Owner wire is just super strong for its diameter. If you grab the hook and flex it with needle nose pliers you can tell the diff.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but personally, I hardly ever use anything but triple grips. I've been using them since, about a year and a half before they hit the market. Have had very few fish come un hooked, and do not miss any more than I would with any other hook. I have caught fish anywhere between 5" and 11 pounds.

Pretty much gone over to all Owner hooks. Stronger than triple
Grips. St35 is a great hook that doesn’t get talked about enough.
Anything round bend go st36.

Just got some stx 38 to try.

All jerkbaits get gammy nano g finesse. Throw the gammy
MH G finesse on some top waters tooo.

Also less hook rash on crankbaits with the wide opening on one side. I've never lost a big fish since going to this hook on squarebills and deep cranks

I meant the st35 originally, not the st36...

These are the sharpest hooks I've ever used too. Most hooks are sharp out of the package these days but I have accidentally hoooked myself and it was deeper than I care to share before I felt it. Came out very easily however.
