What are you guys throwing the giant crankbaits on? Looking for rod and reel recommendations.

I use the Dobyns DC 806CB and Diawa Tatula 150. I love this set up for big cranks and A-Rigs!

iRod Genesis 2 783sb “Jr Swim” and a Quantum 300 Monster
I like 40-50lb braid mainline to 12-15lb PLine CXX

Use the same set up for smaller (1-4oz) treble hooked swimbaits
Also use this set up for Arigs

I’m of the understanding that a lower gear ratio is best for deep divers.

I like the 805 for most other deep cranks but the 806 was built specifically for the 10XD and other super deep LARGE crankbaits.

Dobyns XP 806 8' heavy cranking rod with Shimano Transx 200 7.4:1. The Dobyns casts the heavier 1 7/8 oz baits better and falls inside its rating. I use the 200 series for greater casting distance but would probably use the Shimano Curado HG K for my next one. The Curado is just much smoother and the gear ratio is the same. I use higher speed reels because you can always slow down if the bite calls for it. I use the Curado for cranking my 6XDs also.

I have a custom built by Ron Jones in nacogdoches, I believe it's a batson blank. Full 8ft and works great.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!
