If they were not using identical props these test mean nada. I have a brand new Ghost sitting here at my barn, can't wait to try it out.

I have my ghost installed and heading to the lake in 45mins. Pretty easy install. The MK prop and ghost prop are very close in shape & size, the MK is just a tad bigger. I have 3 MK props and I think I might rig one up just as a spare for now. Just needs a bigger shaft hole and 2 grooves dremeled. (I think)

The ghost turn motor is def way quieter than the ultrex turn motor.

That's the real-world stuff I want to know about! thumb

This is a much more comprehensive test but clearly slanted toward the Ghost. Looks like MK has to play some catch up now.

Thanks for posting the videos—good info
Reliability, customer service, and costs of ownership are the factors I’m looking forward to reading/hearing about.

A trolling motor that can communicate with multiple brands of fishfinders would be great. I know this would be a challenge with the different route/trail/mapping formats

Not overly impressed with the tests. Not worried about the noise because I have never seen it scare the fish and I figure that they are still going to feel the vibrations from the prop just like they would a lure and if they were spooky, that would probably scare them off just as much. It did seem that the Lowrance was much slower in turning comparing the speed of the arrows with the head of the Ultrex. I do like the replaceable cone on the Ghost and the 2 programable buttons on the foot control. The breakaway section should also be a nice feature. I really could care less if one was slightly faster and the charging time was kind of stretching it a bit.

I'd much rather be concerned with comparisons on how they feel steering on the water, how easy are the buttons to access with shoes on and which one does better on spotlock. After all that is the main reason that people will buy these over a traditional tm, for the spotlock. SO far I haven't been convinced to buy one over another for any reason other than to go with what FF you run.

Agreed.

The steering on my Ultrex is a little too sensitive IMO. I would like to have an adjustment where I could slow down the speed of the steering. My biggest complaint of the Ultrex has always been how noisy it is when the head turns. I do love the Spot Lock feature.

If the new Ghost or Garmin is quieter as it turns that alone would be enough to make me switch.

I only have the Ultrex to go by but I have done tons of research on all the new trolling motors, I think the Ghost is going to be a winner, probably will not get it mounted for awhile, its hunting season. smile

I say give it 6 months to a year, and hear what people think about it, that what I would call a real test.

As long as the subsequent “software updates” don’t goof it up like the HDS updates, it will be fine. Also, hopefully tech “support” is never needed.

I say these things seriously. I love my Carbons, just freak out if they require an update or ANY KIND OF SERVICE. I can say that MK does have better CS.

I want my next TM to be the Lowrance. Thankfully my Ultrex is covered on warranty for another 5-6 months. That will give me time to see the Lowrance owners reactions/potential issues.

Ultrex pedal is adjustable, its the screw in the front of the pedal, tighten it to make the pedal firmer.

I'll have my GHOST on Friday. I'll let you know if the head unit is quieter when the motor is turning it left/right.

thank you BBG Electronics

I talked with a guy and he told me it is much quieter, steers like a dream, so far he said he is blown away by it, we shall see how they hold up, hopefully it is as good as advertised, if not I can always bolt my Ultrex back on.
