anybody using ancient mariner reels? Looking for some reviews. Went with a guide on Tawakoni who was using these reels and they seemed well made and have lifetime warranty. They have a good deal on a combo with 20% off and free shipping during holidays. Just looking for some input before I bought a few to try.

You'll get mixed reviews because of how much people dislike the owner. They are very good reels, very well built and probably the smoothest drag on the market. Dieter Melhorn on youtube has a great review on it. Also if it fails just mail it back and he fixes it for free. I have a few along with his catfish rods and they are a great product. Definitely worth the money. The rods are re-branded BCF rods.

Rebranded Chinese reels that are the same as many others out there

Search google and Facebook. You’ll find lots of reviews of the product and the owner.

You can’t go wrong with a Shimano Tekota HGA. I don’t know about Ancient Mariner but Shimano makes incredible fishing reels. The new Tekota is no exception!

This was Alan Hawk info from a few years ago. Please note that Alan has notes at the top saying the fellow has made amends since the initial post-

I have 2 that I tried out 2 years ago. I don't fish everyday like the guides, but i'm out most weekends and use them every time I'm out. Neither of the 2 have given me any issues what so ever. I've had several of the budget reels, each of which have come up lame. I halfway expected these to be no different, but they are still going. As others said, you can find a lot of reviews on them, both good and bad. As is with anything.
