Caught a River Unicorn last night. Revived and released after about 10mins of reviving. It was a long fight on my ML Bone Daddy rod, Concept Z and 10lb braid with 10lb leader. Snagged him right in the snout while fishing a Megabass Vision 112. Thought i hooked up to the world record striper for a second. Lol.

Never heard of this fish. Sounds like it was a blast to land. Would have freaked me out thumb

Was water being released when you hooked into that spoonbill? Those are some very good eating fish and easy to clean. I used to catch them below the Lake Oolagah dam up by Tulsa when I lived there.

Huh. Cool. I've never seen one of those, though I had heard they were in there.

Is the water still off color and sulfur-y?

Must have been quite a fight.
Good job especially on the light line.

Those are a blast to catch. I caught them a lot in Louisville, KY below the locks/dams on the Ohio river. Never kept one, just enjoyed the CPR. Congrats on your catch!!

Stratification of the lake is near. Still smells bad, but water clarity is improving. Lots of smaller fish and a few bigger ones showing up later in the day close to dusk. Having better luck on subsurface lures and suspending jerkbaits than jigs and topwater.

Late to the party. I got a chance to finally try Denison dam this year and managed to pull 2 good ones, for me. The largest being 3.11. I hope to get more time on that body of water.

Low water = very bad

No stripers, and I didn’t even see any buffalo or gar.

Amazing fish! Great catch! Spoonbills are illegal to harvest in Texas. They’re a protected sp [Linked Image]

ecies. I caught one there from the wall on pretty much the same gear and I had the same reaction thinking it was a record striper. This was in the bitter cold of winter.

Anyone been up to Denison the past week, thinking about hitting it Saturday morning but don’t want to waste a drive if there’s nothing biting.

I poked around there last week for an hour in my kayak. There is no water, caught one White Bass, did not see anyone else catching. A few small schools of Carp/Buffalo were easy to see in the shallow rock areas. Loaded back up to finish my day on the lake and did much better.
