Man I have yet to wet a line since the last white bass run. But I hope to get back em again this year. My fishing days are really slowing down, my Ranger bass boat hasn't moved in over a year. The thought of letting it go has crossed my mind a few times, but I still have it. I have been struggling with a few health issues, I keep thinking things are going to turn around and I'll be back on the lakes soon. But we will see. I will be back out catching a few whites, but I might have to wait till the bite is in full swing. So keep the reports coming so this old guy knows when to make the best of it. LOL Old pot licker. Hehehehehehe

Nice fish J-Moe. Man dude you have been on a roll. Look at where you are today compared to five years ago with all of this fishing stuff. You have learned a lot in a short time frame and you have taught many others the skill to catch as well. Awesome job, keep it up. It's a silly sport but I cannot think of better one I would rather do. I mean I'm outside with Mother Nature soaking it all in while I'm fishing. But iif you think about it, it is kind a silly. I work so hard to catch a fish, I reel it in, take it off the hook, look at both sides of it and if it measures up to my lickings then I'll take a few snap shots of it. I might even weigh it before I toss it back only so I repeat myself a thousand more times if not more to catch another one. That is the best thing about fishing though, you have that choice to release it to live again and also for others to catch and enjoy a good fight from it as I did.

Not sure about you guys but sometimes I just need an excuse to get out of the house, even if the fish aren't biting. wink

And a dry year in November about this time in 2013 shows how the creek fishing can go from feast to famine!

And leading up to winter of 2011/2012 was this September 2011 hike up the dry Yegua from the Nails creek park.

If nothing else all of these historical videos of fishing the creeks at Lake Somerville show just how resilient nature is overall.

A high water event in the September thru November timeframe is what makes for the best fall fishing in the creeks.

The lake is is good condition currently but was not high enough above normal pool level entering into the fall of the year to allow any of the early arrivals as in years past.

Any time from now thru March/April a good rise in the creeks will kick the run in high gear.. the bigger and longer the rise the more fish will come up to spawn. If it doesn't rise up there will be some very disappointed creek fishers out there..
