I've been staying close to home and fishing Palestine when I have to go. Had a couple of good days two weekends ago and caught 14 over a two day period fishing Ledbetter and Highsaw. One day they were biting everything I threw... spinnersbaits, jigs, and slow rolled crankbaits, the next day could only get bit on slow sinking jerkbait.

Fished Kickapoo area last Sunday. Spoke to a guy who had come down from out of state to duck hunt with friends here and had to leave his hunting boat on trailer at ramp that night (tire rim problems) He and his friends came back to ramp the next morning and someone had stolen his trailer and boat. The highway patrol was just leaving as I arrived. A couple of guys fishing off the old bridge were hammering some good sized bass freelining live shad. cheers Lots of bait but I couldn't get them to hit what I was throwing (jerkbait). I did catch a hybrid that might have gone 10 or 11 lbs. Almost 25 inches and a real fat f. roflmao

Fished Naconiche and Pinkston two weeks ago. One small bass at Pinkston late in the day... I'll go back there another time as it has lots of grass. Not the easiest place to find (ramp at dam) if your gps loses signal. Slow at Naconich until right before dark and caught 4 to 3.5 lbs on jerk bait.

Fished Flat Creek today. On the water around 3 p.m. and paddled about two miles up the creek. Nothing going on for me in my all spots as lake looks to be about 3 feet low. Paddled over to the middle of the lake and just started throwing a jig and brushhog at the biggest stumps along creek channel. Thought I'd hung a monster bass when I set the hook. Was fishing with 50 lb braid and had drag locked down. Thought I was going to have to let go of rod for a second for fear of getting turned over before I got it up and loosened drag a hair.

Couldn't lift this one out of the water as net wasn't big enough or strong enough. I swear the fish weighed 20+. Picture does it no justice.

May try to hit Fork tomorrow.

Nice looking fish all the way around!

Thanks for the reports... This year is turning out to be a very good fall bite.

East Texas fishing is hard to beat. All those lakes, so many choices.

Big ole' cat and hybrid must have pulled like freight trains.
Good reports and Pics thumb

The fish started busting on top in the back of creek right before dark. Lost one that looked to be around 5 lbs that threw spinnerbait and missed a couple of others. Was hoping they would hit jerkbait as the three hooks on those things don't miss often, but they didn't want it the way I was throwing it. Water temp was 58 degrees.

I would put in at Kickapoo ramp and paddle out to the old bridge. Water level low enough that its a couple of feet above water level and you could get out and pull your kayak up on it and fish all up and down it and on both sides. The guys I spoke to catching good size bass there had pulled their jon boat up on top and were fishing for crappie and catching bass, using live shad.

Fished Sat and Sunday afternoon, Fork on Sat... Skunk.. bang and Sunday, back at Palestine.
Knew better than to head to the back of Little Caney but wanted to see if anything was going on as I hadn't been there in a long time. Pretty much dead with very little bait showing up on graph. I wouldn't have even gone to Fork but needed to drop off some reels with R Tee, for thorough cleaning. I always enjoy talking that guy and can rarely get out of his office in less than an hour. roflmao

It was breezy early afternoon and thought I could get out of the wind easier up the creek. Should have toughed it out and gone back towards main lake, my original plan. Getting old makes you lazy.

It was a much better day on Palestine, weather wise.

Caught a few small bass on Palestine, spinnerbait and jerkbaits, just enough that it kept the day interesting. Launched at Leadbetter ramp and paddled towards main lake. Lots of bait around, birds too. Just tough getting the fish to hit for me. Caught a 5 lb blue under a cormorant roosting tree on a suspending jerkbait... what a mess that was.

Man, that grass looks like an inviting place for a 10 pounder this time of year...

You're making me jealous Iconn!

Hit Martin Creek on Thanksgiving Day and caught a bunch to almost 17 inches. Most were smaller but it was non stop action most of the day fishing the pads.

https://texasfishingforum.com/forum...355496/who-is-fishing-today#Post13355496

Went back to Fork on Saturday afternoon... not a tap, fishing the area where they bit real good right before dark last week. Back to Martin Creek today, determined to catch a bigger bass. Caught a small one on spinner bait and spent most of the afternoon trying for a big one throwing a 7 inch Fringe Tackle Hollow Belly. Really windy conditions and not a whiff of smoke coming out of the stacks all day. Finally got started getting bit late but couldn't keep a hook in any of them. I'll get them next time.

Thought I was going to have to rescue someone when I saw this from distance. I didn't see it there on Thanksgiving day.

I got stuck on a stump that I felt go right into scupper hole. There wasn't any play at all for me to paddle off of it. Tried for 10 minutes and just went in circles. Water was only about 4 feet but soft bottom and I was worried it would go over the top of my waders if I tried to get out. Ended up clearing out everything in the front of my kayak and scooting slowly to my front hatch and the weight transfer lifted the kayak right off the stump and out of the scupper hole and I was back on my way... free at last.
