Always fun to knock one off the bucket list. Had to downsize to entice a bite. They were blowing up around the boat, but wouldn't touch a topwater. Had to use a small circle hook on 25lb fluorocarbon with a live sardine. It sounds crazy using that light a leader for tuna, but that's what everyone is doing out here to get bit.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

They were blowing up around the boat, but wouldn't touch a topwater. Had to use a small circle hook on 25lb fluorocarbon with a live sardine. That's the kind of tuna fishing I grew up on. Was culture shock for me to come out here and discover that you could throw all kinds of hardware at blackfin and yellowfin and get bites. Pacific bluefin are notoriously line-and-tackle-shy. Nice catch!

fork please,... Just ate some. Seared on the outside with a little garlic salt and pepper, left raw on the inside and served with soy sauce and wasabi. It was delicious!
