The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our annual two day Championship tournament on November 9-10 on Lakes Cypress Springs and Bob Sandlin. This is a no entry fee tournament for qualified members who fished enough members only tournaments and completed their Community Event for the year. The weather was perfect. Cold mornings gave way to sunny warm afternoons with light to moderate winds. The fishing was surprisingly good on Cypress Springs on Saturday and surprisingly tough at Bob Sandlin on Sunday. 67 members qualified to fish the event and 32 boats were on the water. When the weekend was over Chris Atkinson and myself came out with the victory with a two day combined weight of 30.06 pounds. Big bass was paid out each day with Matt Jackson and Russell Olds weighing a 5.90 on Cypress and Dennis and Damon Machost weighing in a 4.49 on Bob Sandlin to take home the checks. Here are full results and pictures. Keepers were not easy to find on Cypress. Here's Paul Spann with theirs for the day Kelly Millhollon proving how precious they were! Duane Limberg and Ryan Lawson had three on Day 1 Robert Hitt and John Bruner with their two James Clifton fished with Joe Pecina and had three for 7.81 Garrett Macias and Bobby Finta had four for 8.79 on Cypress Joe Tulley and Shane Garber weighed five for 8.74 on Saturday Jason Hunnicutt and Travis Reaves weighed a limit for 11.51 to keep them in the thick of things going to Sunday

Russell Olds and Matt Jackson weighed four for 11.63 but one of those was a 5.90 toad taking the big bass money for Cypress. Thanks to Russell for providing tired and weary travelers a place to lay their heads and great company for the weekend! Ronnie Manning and John Miller weighed five for 11.68 Paul Villarreal and Joe Ruiz weighed a limit for 11.78 to stay in the hunt. Their kicker weighed 4.34 Sitting in sixth place after Day 1 were Preston Smith and David Horton with five for 13.22 with a 4.85 kicker fish Just ahead of them were 2018 Anglers of the Year Vince Burt and Mark Werner with 13.59 In fourth were Mark Calhoun and Keith Green with five for 14.17. Their big fish weighed 4.66 In third and fishing solo was Clark Crenshaw who weighed a good bag of 15.30 Sitting in second after the first day were Chris Atkinson and myself with a limit for 17.29. Kudos to my partner for making the required blood sacrifice to insure our success... Leading after Day 1 were Dennis and Damon Machost. They weighed a great bag of 18.46 that included a 5.32 kicker fish!

Saturday night most of those attending gathered at Vaughn's Catfish House for dinner and lots of fishing talk! Bob Sandlin was TOUGH for most. Big fish were scarce and so were keeper bites. Here's Robert and Big John with their Sandlin keeper Bryce Glick weighed three for 6.28 David Mulkey and Tommy Yates rebounded on Sunday with four for 9.89 with a 4.28 big fish Cameron Laing and Patrick Sharp with a tough to come by limit for 9.83 2019 Anglers of the Year Adam Vesely and Taylor Gauntt had a limit for 10.29 on Sunday Weighing in three more for a ninth place finish were Illustrious Action Lures owners Russell Olds and Matt Jackson

Finishing seventh were Paul Villarreal and Joe Ruiz with a two day total of 20.03 Finishing sixth with a two day total of 20.17 were Preston Smith and David Horton Finishing fifth and fishing solo was David Choate. He had 11.51 on Sandlin for a two day weight of 20.93 Fourth place went to Ronnie Manning and John Miller with a combined total of 22.03 Finishing third with a two day total of 22.41 were Vince Burt and Mark Werner. Mark snuck off when I wasn't looking without a picture so here they are from Bob Sandlin in April with their monster bag Second place went to former AOY's Dennis and Damon Machost with a two day total of 24.26 and that included a 4.49 money fish on Sunday Here are your winners! With a combined weight of 30.06 for two days Chris Atkinson and myself took home the big prize. A huge thank you to Chris for a GREAT year That's a wrap on 2019! Thanks to the Crawford family for getting everyone checked in on Saturday morning. Thanks to Paul Spann, David Choate, Bill Gammons, Mark Calhoun, Shellye Crawford and everyone who helped with weigh in both days. Thank you to all my Officers for a great job this year. A club as large as this one takes a lot of work and I appreciate the hard work of David Mulkey, Cameron Laing, Robert Whitt, Shellye and James Crawford, Russell Olds and Matt Jackson, Paul Spann and David Choate for everything you did this year to make everything run smoothly. Thanks to all 141 of our members for another great year! See you in January when we kick off 2020!
