Anyone else having trouble finding striper? Catching a lot of small ones on live shad in the main lake but none over 18. Have they started to move up river? any help on Whitney would be appreciated.

Haven't made it out in a few weeks but with this cold weather setting in next week the stripers will start forming large schools along the main river channel. The birds should be back on the lake and help finding the fish. We can usually locate large schools around the island and big Rocky Creek to near the dam area. I wouldn't worry about using shad this time of year, get some 5" flukes and slabs will work great

Thanks 44. Yea we looked pretty much everywhere that was south of the Katy Bridge last weeekend and couldn't find any quality fish. So we anchored up for catfish and caught a 26 inch striper on a 3ft point in the middle of the day. It had a huge head with little meat so they could still be trying to come out of their summer pattern.

finally was able to get out today. The deadstick bite is on. The stripers today were fat and full of eggs. Caught some magnum sandies on slabs. All fish caught near the main river channel above Katy bridge. The fishing should only get better as the water temps drop

Pulling them out of the trees is so awesome. Great screen shots.

There were nice size stripers in the main lake yesterday. Found some between Towash Creek and the island. They're there, but getting them to bite can be an issue. Live perch worked for a while. Couldn't get them to take slabs or jigs.

Same with Bporte. Good screen shots in deep water, big balls of bait very few takers.

Went out this morning from 8:30 to 1:00. Found the striper Northeast of Bird Island. Caught 4 legal striper and tons of little ones. Most of the striper wanted nothing to do with artificial bait. Tried slabs and dead sticking even had my thumper going. They wanted slabs that were moving so we had to troll. Don’t have a shad tank on my boat so didn’t try shad.

Found some big white bass north of Katy bridge and caught a limit.
