Giant yellowfin tuna on poppers is hard to beat

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

I lump all 3 main bass species together since you can catch most of them on any given cast around where I fish.
Next would definitely be crappie. Specifically doodle socking in <1' of water in the springtime

Rainbow and brown trout in the Colorado Rockies. Catching fish in some of the most scenic places in our country.

LMB is number #1 because they will hit lures --
#2 , Halibut in Alaska ( 100+ lbs on Big'un Grubs using 16oz lead heads down to 200feet of water , crazy FUN )
#3 , Ling cod in Alaska , up to 50lbs , using the same jigs --- vicious fighters
#4 , Catfish at Clear Lake , Calif , one after the other --- in the fall , 5 to 20 lbs until your worn out
#5 , Cutthroat ,Rainbow and Brown Trout in Montana ( Yellowstone Lake , Lake Henry , Madison River ) ( Be careful of the Grizzlies !!! )

If you have never fished in Alaska , it's a " bucket list " item for sure . Amazing scenery , crazy good fishing and some really good eating . If I had unlimited money , I would go every year . Nothing beats a 100lb Halibut slamming a jig on slack tide ---- rip the rods out of your hands if your not paying attention. The lodge I stay at has it's record 345lb Halibut , took 6 hours to bring it in .
