Just wondering how fellow members of the DPS manage to fight your way thru the holiday season?

Does your family try to accommodate with low carb foods...or, do you just try to limit the
Things you should avoid and have the family enjoy their traditional foods?

I volunteer to work so I don't have to be there

I've been Type I for 33 years last month. I was 25 when I was diagnosed.

I have learned what foods are ok and which ones will normally set me off and deal with it from there.
Sometimes I know I'll eat things that will require a little extra insulin.

Wife is type 1 and was diagnosed when she was 8 or 9. She has been type 1 for 20 years and this year got on a dexcom and tslim pump. Her glucose management has been substantially better.

If you were my guest I'd fix you up.

It's a very hard time of year, but with strict portion control I still get a taste of all the good stuff.

Limit the carbs and no sugar as usual. On thanksgiving day I will have a small sliver of apple pie as a treat, maybe a dollop of mashed taters. It’s the no rolls that kills me

Pretty certain that if I had portion control..I would not be in this position.

Quick review:

Don’t eat bread.
Don’t eat Taters.
No dressing.
No egg nog
No whiskey
No desserts.
No gravy
No carrots
No sweet potato casserole


What’s left? Turkey and deviled eggs.

Whiskey?, Is very low in carbs so if your liver function is ok enjoy.

Yes..BUT it does not play well with Metformin.

Vodka?

Same.

It’s the alcohol...

Wife and myself don't drink alcohol. Don't drink it and won't have issues from drinking it.
