A 20 lb bag is out there. Only going to take the right kicker fish. We had 18 lbs yesterday with three people in the boat easily,. , 2 and 3 lb were everywhere , . The small ones are hard to weed out. One right after another.

I disagree Okie.. we had 20 lbs by 10am Thursday. Every single fish that was in the 4 lb range came on the same bait in areas we had already caught some of those 2 lb cookie cutters throwing the usual stuff. I canโt be the only person out there to figure it out... when the real money is on the line I feel sure the bigger bags will magically show up. 30 may not be there but Iโm certain 20 - 23 lbs is. 20LBS PLUS is what I'm saying. Kevin & Coy is one of the best teams to fish that lake and they had 19 recently. There's a big difference between 18LBS and over 20LBS. Let's see how the weights are today and report back....JMO.

I am thinking about taking a trip down there. I live in the panhandle. Do you know of a decent motel around there where you can plug in a battery charger without going through a lot of trouble?

Weโve been staying at Dinosaur Trail cabins & cottages in Granbury, 817-573-3023. Itโs a private area with security gates. We rent the largest cabin @ $160/night. Not bad split between 3. Just bring your ext cord.

I like fishing squaw for the action, but would never travel from the panhandle area to fish it!

20 lbs can happen still from time to time. Everyone said last year that big bags would show in certain tourneys. I seem to recall the it was slightly under 20 in both the biggest events. I'm pretty sure I'm right about this lol. You cant compare thursday and friday on that lake to sat and sunday. You also cant compare October and November to later in year. It's not that there aren't some good fish in the lake, it's that the numbers of 5 plus are way, way down. There was a time when we threw back 3 pound fish in tourneys without a fish in live well cause if you had one at the end of day you weren't getting a check. It's not nearly what it was, the process is a beating, and having to spend half the day avoiding being seen by sitting on some community hole to throw people off gets old. Great lake to take kids to however.

I imagine tournaments have hurt the lake a lot. Seems to be something out there almost every weekend of the winter. Warm water and fish in bags for 15 plus minutes equal dead fish. If they cared about their fishery they would limit the number of tournaments on the lake. One every Saturday and Sunday is pretty absurd imo but its a business for luminant just like anything else.

Let them fish get hooked 5 to 10 times and those fish start to wise up and some simply die to poor handling. Late Sept and all of October there were 10 to 15 boats on a weekend with half of those being netters, now it's 50 plus bass boats - Happens every year
